Carolinas AGC is opening the CAGC Foundation Grant for contractors impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization said in October.
The grant will help allocate funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Carolinas AGC said in its Oct. 14 release. The application process is open until Wednesday, Oct. 28 and funding, once allotted, must be spent by Wednesday, Dec. 30. The grants are provided on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The grant was named in state legislation, which appropriated the rest of the CARES Act funding. CAGC's lobbying team calls the effort a "major legislative victory" and that qualified businesses in North Carolina will be able to receive the help they need.
There were $3 million in grant funds stipulated in the legislation that can be awarded to construction businesses and non-profits in North Carolina, Carolinas AGC said in the release. The money can be used for staffing equipment to screen individuals on job sites, as well as rapid response testing kits and daily screening questions on smartphone applications or computer implementation.
