Town of Davidson issued the following announcement on May 18.

On June 11th, we will have a big event in Davidson on the Town Green.

We will be celebrating World Wide Stitch In Public Day. The day will be filled with demos, crafts, games, and prizes.

One of the events will be a Stitch-A-Thon for mental health and suicide awareness and prevention sponsored by Davidson Lifeline.

We invite you to sign up for 12 hours of stitching. Any craft you want as long as you’re stitching.

We’re working on the formalities and rules, but here’s a sneak preview of what you have in store. Sign up and enter the roped-off area in front of the library. We will have food and drink available for you throughout the event. There will be breaks and also challenges every hour.

Win the challenge and get a prize! The registration fee is $50, which goes directly to Davidson Lifeline as a donation. You will need to enter the amount.

After you register, we will send you more information and the “rules” of the Stitch-A-Thon.

You can stay as long as you want or stick with it for the entire time.

Either way, you are helping a great cause.
