Town of Mint Hill issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Indian Trail. Mayor Michael Alvarez recently lost his battle with cancer.  We extend our deepest condolences to the Town of Indian Trail and to Mayor Alvarez’s family.

This past weekend, your Board of Commissioners and Town staff met for a two-day Planning Retreat.  The following items were covered:

• Discuss 4-year staggered terms for mayor and commissioners

• Land Use & Development Ordinances

• American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA)

• Police Department Update

• Fire Department Update

• 10 Year Land Use Plan Update from consultant

• Mint Hill Events Update

• Areas of Traffic Congestion & Stacking

• Improved Street Lighting at Intersections

• Town Hall Administrative Staff Update

• Roles and Responsibilities of Appointed Boards and Committees

• Creation of a Racial Diversity Advisory Council

• Solid Waste & Recycling Update

• Budget Update

• Public Works Department Update

• Sidewalk Projects

• Town Entrance Signage, Branding & Graphics

• Public Services Facility Update

• Charlotte Water Update

• NCDOT Update

• Town Park Development

• Communication & Technology

Minutes from the retreat will be available once they are approved at the February 10th Board of Commissioners meeting.
