County of Mecklenburg issued the following announcement on Mar. 2.
The County's Office of Economic Development is pleased to announce the retention and expansion of SAERTEX multiCom. The company plans to consolidate operations into a new 105,000 square foot facility in the Huntersville. The more than $20 million expansion will retain 34 existing positions and create 45 new jobs in the County over the next five years. The growth will allow SAERTEX multiCom to increase manufacturing capacity and improve logistics operations.
"We are pleased to support the retention and growth of SAERTEX multiCom," said George Dunlap, chairman of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. "We are especially pleased that the new jobs being offered will provide stability and opportunities for growth to employees.
Upon approval from the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, the County will support the investment through a Business Investment Program (BIP) grant of $339,218 over five years. The County estimates an additional $29,800 in sales tax revenue by the end of the grant term.
"An important part of our global strategic growth plan has been to invest heavily in our North American operations, which we feel is key to our overall success," said Kai Diecks, managing director of SAERTEX multiCom Group. "Our new location will allow us to better serve our existing customers, as well as position us to significantly expand our manufacturing capacity and improve our warehousing and logistics operations."
The State of North Carolina, with the support of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, is providing funds through the North Carolina Community College System to develop customized training.
