Mecklenburg County residents who need to access Department of Social Services support have additional options with a recent upgrade to its website app.
The app, which was first released in June, now enables department customers to submit applications, recertifications and other documents from the convenience of their mobile device, the Carolina Weekly reported on Sept. 19.
The web app, which can be accessed at dssdocs.mecknc.gov, also includes options such as applying for benefits, a benefits self-assessment tool and information about the Low Income Energy Assistance Program.
The site offers both English and Spanish versions for accessing each service.
The Carolina Weekly also reported that the county recommends customers bookmark the new website address, AllAccess.MeckNC.gov, although the previous URL still works, and the new one does not yet appear to be functioning.
The original news release from the county states that the web app intends to reduce the need for as many people to need to visit the department’s physical locations at 201 Billingsley Road and 3205 Freedom Drive, Suite 1000.
