Town of Cornelius issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.
Chad has been with the Cornelius Parks & Recreation Department for 13 years.
Chad is the Town's Recreation Superintendent; a role that he has filled since 2015. Previously, he has served as both Park Superintendent and Athletic Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department. In total, he has spent 13 years ensuring that Cornelius residents receive top-tier opportunities to enjoy the Department's programs and facilities.
He's a Concord native who has lived in Mooresville for 21 years; the same amount of time that he has been married to his lovely wife, Lee. The two share a son, Davis, who is a Mooresville High graduate and soon-to-be 49er at UNC Charlotte.
The pair also have a cat, affectionately named Bodie-cat, whom Lee gifted Chad on one of their anniversaries. The 20-year-old Calico got her name from the Bodie Lighthouse, a landmark near where the couple married in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
As Recreation Superintendent, Chad is in charge of overseeing his Department's program services division, partnerships with community organizations, and facility use and reservations.
His role often demands long hours as smooth operations must be ensured from open to close at the Town's facilities and amenities. Chad says it's worth it, however, to be able to create opportunities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the Town's wide range of events, activities, and programs.
In his free time, Chad likes to spend quality time with his family, dive into a good book, watch the big game, or listen to music. He'll be retiring from the Town on September 9th of this year, and we wish him a restful retirement full of his favorite things and favorite people.
Thank you, Chad, for 13 incredible years!
