TOWN OF CORNELIUS: Historic Cornelius Guided Walking Tour

Town of Cornelius issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.

Join Cornelius Historic Preservation Committee members at 6 PM for a guided walking tour of historic Cornelius during the next 'Tawba Walk on Saturday, September 24.

The starting point for this tour, which is approximately 1 mile, will be the Cornelius Veterans Monument on the east side of Town Hall (21445 Catawba Avenue). Along the way you will learn about when and how the Town was incorporated, the Gem Yarn Mill, the history of Cornelius Elementary School, and other sites of interest.

The Historic Preservation Committee invites everyone to participate in this tour to learn more about the rich history of Cornelius. The tour will last approximately 1 hour. Come early and/or stay late to enjoy everything the 'Tawba Walk has to offer!

The walking tour promotes the work of historic preservation, encourages exercise suitable for the entire family, educates townspeople, students, and visitors about the evolution of Cornelius, encourages activity in our town center, and introduces walkers to businesses along the walking route.
