Town of  Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department issued the following announcement on March 7.

We are excited to announce that the Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department was awarded a $212,000 Accessibility for Parks Grant for improvements at Abernathy Park. 

Huntersville was one of only twenty one communities across the state to receive this state grant.   

The park improvements at Abernathy Park will include a new all inclusive playground, accessible fitness stations, new basketball court, new shelter, new walking trial, and seating areas. 

 This project is anticipated to be complete by the end of the year.
