Town of Mint Hill issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.
If you have not had a chance to visit the circle around Town Hall, I encourage you to do so. Now through Veterans Day we are paying tribute to 17 of our veterans with our Military Hometown Hero Banner program. Today I offer my sincere thanks to everyone who has ever worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces for giving me the freedom to live the life God has so graciously given to me and my family. The sacrifices veterans have made protecting our rights and freedoms stand as examples that emphasize the importance of taking our responsibilities seriously, including the right to vote. If it were not for you and the sacrifices you made for our country, I would not be your mayor.
On behalf of your Town of Mint Hill Board of Commissioners, I say thank you. Thank you for defending our freedoms, our liberty, and our American way of life. I thank all the family members of our veterans. I know you lived through difficult times and often carried the burden of keeping the home fires burning. Next time you see a veteran, join me in thanking them for helping make Mint Hill a great place to live, work and raise our families.
This past week, we said goodbye to Lauren Quillen, who was once the leader of the Mint Hill Junior Chamber of Commerce. Many of you may not know him, but it was Lauren who promoted the idea of forming the Town of Mint Hill. Our prayers go out to Lauren’s family.
God bless our veterans, and all our troops. God bless Mint Hill and God bless America!
